How do I set up a Video
conference call online with relatives?
Web cam
You'll need a web cam. Here are some
suggestions for sources:

you'll need to set up the web cam. Follow the
instructions on the package. For most current computers,
this will be a very easy installation since many systems
will automatically configure everything for you. Once
you have a Messenger program downloaded to your
computer, you will run a test of the web cam to see that
everything is working properly.
Microphone
Most current computers will have a
mic built in or the web cam will have one in it. If you
don't have either of these then you'll have to buy a
simple computer microphone.
Download a Messenger
program-
- There are a variety of Messenger
programs that will allow you to make a video conference
call:
MSN Messenger, AOL ,Yahoo.
You'll need to go to their websites and follow the
directions for registering and downloading their
programs. Try only one, not all three. If you have
several running you might incur some problems.
Sign
in to the
Messenger program-

Use the email address
and password that you used to register for the program.
Add a contact in the
Messenger program-

Each program is a
little different. You'll need the email address of your
friend to add them to your contact list. (Remember that
your friend will need to be registered with the same
Messenger program that you are using.)

Run the test wizard-
- In MSN Messenger you can run a test
to see that your web cam and microphone are all working
properly. (Under Tools>Audio and
Video>...)
Messenger settings-
- You
can set your
preferences for your MSN messenger program: image displayed,
when to be notified if others are online, etc.
